Quiet, cozy, and far away from the busy lifestyle of big city, Burnside Park is an upbeat place to take Fido when you're looking for some peaceful time outside. The park offers plenty in its small area, and remains a popular spot for people in the Burnside neighborhood in southern Chicago. Although only about 3 acres, this park is secluded and will be sure to provide you and Fido with lots of time to play outside!
Parking can be found on the east side of the park off of a not-so-busy street, where you and Fido can immediately enter a trail that takes you into the park. The trail is covered in trees, offering shade and a cool breeze for the entrance of the park until it connects to the main loop of the park. Going left will take you to the southern part of the park along the trail, which offers the best way to explore the trail. The loop is backed by trees to the south and encompasses with baseball fields, with plenty of open space in between for Fido and other people to run around and play.
Around about a fourth of a mile, the looping trail comes back along the east side of the park where you can see some of the main features, including a basketball court, two playgrounds, swing sets, and a picnic area covered in shade from tall oak trees. Other great amenities include water fountains, benches, and trash bins. The trail is always fun to walk on, but it doesn't beat going off it to play in the open space of the park to get some real exercise with your pup. Be sure to bring clean up bags with you too.
Walking along the trail or playing in the grassy field will no doubt be fun for you and Fido, and with pawsome amenities suited for you and your pup, Burnside Park will become a city favorite for the both of you.
