The Chambers Creek Dog Park is an off-leash dog park near Tacoma in Washington. This dog park is, in all senses of the words, a work in progress. It is slowly being developed into a great dog park which any pet parent would be proud to take their fur baby to.
The ground under development is part of the Chambers Creek Regional Park, and the work is being funded by a non-profit organization called Sundog Org. Although membership of SunDog Org is not a requisite for using the dog park at Chambers Creek, the fee of $10 goes towards improvements and the off-leash areas upkeep.
If pet parents have suffered a bereavement, they can also make a donation in memory of their beloved deceased pet. Volunteers willing to assist with dog park projects are also very welcome. The Chambers Creek Dog Park, which is in the Central Meadow area, now encompasses almost two acres of ground which has been secured with chain-link fencing.
A new small dog section has been opened which is suitable for shy and nervous dogs too. There are aims to eventually increase the ground coverage of the dog park to a total of seven acres which would be amazing for Tacoma pups to get off-leash time in. Dogs are welcome throughout Chambers Creek Regional Park, but for their own safety must be kept on a leash unless inside the designated off-leash areas.
There is an open railway track which runs through the park which can be dangerous for dogs on the loose. The park also offers pet owners a small off-leash beach area where their pooches can take a dip. This is separate to the fenced dog park. Whether in the dog park, walking the trails of the main park or having a splash about on the beach, pet parents must pick up and dispose of all their pet's poop responsibly.
