Cornell Square Park, lovingly nicknamed “Back of the Yards”, is located in the New City Community Area of Chicago on West 51st Street. This 8.29 acre park is mostly known for its excellent athletic facilities, including baseball fields, basketball courts, football and soccer fields, as well as an artificial turf field for soccer. Whether you’re here for some heart-pumping exercise or just to relax in an area surrounded by greenery with your best pal, Cornell Square Park is the place to be!
The indoor amenities at Cornell Square Park include two gymnasiums, an auditorium, a kitchen, and restrooms. Since only service dogs are allowed inside the fieldhouse, your pooch will likely be much more interested in the lovely paved pathways that wind through the park. These pathways make Cornell Square Park a prime location to add to your morning walks with Fifi. You’ll likely encounter joggers and fellow dog walkers on your travels. Be prepared to make some furry friends! If you’re craving some wide open spaces, you and your doggo can spend some time on the athletic fields as long as priority is given to any sports.
Cornell Square Park is all about community, and spending some quality time outdoors. The park hosts after school youth programs and summer camps, as well as special events throughout the year. Some of these include holiday themed events and movies in the park. Your pups are welcome to join you for most of the outdoor activities as long as they don’t cause a disturbance.
To help keep Cornell Square Park safe and clean for everyone, please follow proper petiquette. This includes keeping your pupper leashed at all times. Don’t forget to bring along some doggy waste bags, and be prepared to stoop and scoop.
With all the opportunities for playtime and socialization, Cornell Square Park is sure to put a smile on your face and a wag in your dog’s tail.
