Visiting the windy city of Chicago, Illinois, offers a multitude of shopping and dining experiences, but your pup will need some outdoor time to make his visit pawtastic. Dawes Park is located in the Auburn Gresham Community and offers almost 18 acres of land to enjoy with your furry friend. You will find plenty of parking spots along side the park on the city’s streets or in one of the local parking garages.
You can take your pup for a leisurely walk throughout the park on the paved paths which provided stable footing, especially for those not-so-young pups. There are plenty of benches to sit and take a break throughout your visit to do some people watching or just enjoy the fresh air. Listen to the birds sing while resting under the mature shade trees here, which provide plenty of a much-appreciated shade during the hot, humid Chicago summers. Plan to take a picnic lunch which you can eat with Fido by your side in the designated picnic groves. Wintertime is a great time to explore Dawes Park as well, since the city maintains the paths throughout.
The park offers other amenities for the local community to take advantage of including a clubhouse, afterschool programs, baseball diamonds, sports courts and fields, and a spray water pool for the kiddies in the summer. Restrooms and drinking fountains are located on site, as well as trash receptacles. Be sure to bring a bowl for water for your pup's convenience, and some clean up bags to help keep the park looking its best.
Be sure to check out Dawes Park while in Chicago for a puptastically great time with your fur-ever friend any time of the year.
