Evanston Dog Beach is a large area where you and your dog can enjoy the pristine white sand and the refreshing water. Pet parents need to purchase a token at the Dempster Street Beach office. Currently, the seasonal prices for residents are $44 and $88 for non-residents. Prices are subject to change.
All dogs must have their vaccinations and licensing requirements. Make sure you bring along the information in written form and on official veterinarian office records. The rule is in place to keep all dogs that visit the beach safe and healthy. If your dog is feeling sick or has an injury, it is best to visit the beach another day.
Keep your dog on a leash until you enter the designated off-leash beach area. Dogs are welcome to run around on the sand, play fetch, and splash around in the water. This beach is also a great place to meet other pet parents and allow your dog to play with other dogs in the area.
Bring along a Frisbee or ball to play fetch. This long stretch of beach allows your dog to run as far as you can throw the ball. It’s great for him to stretch his legs and exercise. If your dog is a good swimmer, he will enjoy the water as well. However, if your dog happens to love the water but is a weak swimmer, you can use a doggie life vest to help keep him safe.
Pet parents are encouraged to clean up after their dog immediately. Keeping the beach clean is a priority. Beach blankets and chairs are prohibited on the beach. The beach is specifically designated to allow dogs to run long stretches at once without dodging chairs and people. Overall, this beach is an excellent place to go with your dog as it allows your dog to have fun and gives you a chance to get some fresh air.
