Description
The Fort Fisher State Recreation Area is a gorgeous state park, beach, and camping facility in Kure Beach, North Carolina. This much-loved vacation hotspot proudly permits dogs to access their entire property including the beach areas though dogs must remain on a lead at all times. There is no designated dog play space at Fort Fisher State Recreation Area.

As such, there are no on-site amenities provided for dogs. Owners should bring bottled water, a dog dish, lawn chairs, and poop bags with them to the park. The responsibility for all pet waste removal lies with each owner, and park officials gratefully acknowledge all owner cooperation in helping them maintain a clean park space for all to enjoy.

The Fort Fisher State Recreation Area is a public facility, and access to the property is provided at no cost. It's important to note that this park observes seasonal hours which vary marginally from month to month. This beautiful recreational property offers six miles of natural sand beach and pristinely landscaped trails for Fido and his family to explore.

Here, families can enjoy viewing wildlife in its natural habitat. The salt marsh is indigenous to many rare and unusual species including sea turtles and piping plovers. The Fort Fisher State Recreation Area offers visitors breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Cape Fear River. Other outdoor opportunities include an on-site visitor's center and boardwalks.

This property is an ideal haven for those who love surf-fishing, boating, and four-wheeling (by permit only and in season). Located at the highest point of Pleasure Island, the area is also home to the island's state aquarium and several Civil War sites of historical significance.

In accordance with North Carolina legislation, Fort Fisher State Recreation Area requires all dogs visiting their beautiful facility to be current on all vaccinations. A city dog license is also mandatory. Looking for a new great spot to vacation? Why not plan to stop by Fort Fisher State Recreation Area?
