However, the park is actually in the Riverdale neighborhood of the city. After reaching the park, you will find a parking lot on the southern portion of the park, which offers a good amount of spaces that connect to paved paths and a sidewalk that surrounds the outer edges of the park. Although the park is not fenced-in nor suitable for off-leash play, there is still an abundance of space to play and run around in.
Although the middle of the park is completely open and occupied by two baseball fields, the edges of the park are surrounded by trees that create shade and privacy for park goers. Additionally, you'll find two playgrounds that are fenced-in, water fountains, benches, and shaded sitting areas with picnic tables and trash bins. Fido is welcome to play on the baseball fields as long as no teams are playing, otherwise its best to stick to the outer open edges where there is room to play with your pup. Remember to bring some clean-up bags too.
No matter what you decide to do in the Golden Gate Park, you'll have a golden time with Fido and overall love your experience here, even if it can get a little popular after school hours on the weekdays.
