Gwendolyn Brooks Park is a charming neighborhood park that welcomes the whole family, including the family dog! This park is named after Gwendolyn Brooks, one of Chicago’s most acclaimed and beloved poets, and the first black woman to receive a Pulitzer Prize. The park features a bronze bust of her, and a pathway of stones engraved with lines of her poems. There is also a replica of the back porch where she used to enjoy quiet contemplation and write. Hopefully you and your canine companion can enjoy some peace and relaxation surrounded by greenery in this park. It may even get your creative juices flowing!
The rest of the park features a large grassy area that your pupper will love to sniff and play on. You can enjoy a picnic underneath the shade trees, so why not pack a lunch? Don’t forget the dog treats for your good boy or girl! Surrounding the grassy area is a paved pathway that is just pawfect for a jog or a leisurely stroll with your best pal. The pathway is easy on the paws and the eyes.
Other great features, including a newly renovated playground. You may even be able to catch some special events here, like Movies in the Park screenings and other Night Out in the Parks special events. Whether you want to chat with the neighbors and meet their furry friends, or enjoy some peace and quiet people watching, you can enjoy a great sense of community in Gwendolyn Brooks Park.
Dogs are welcome throughout the park, as long as they stay leashed and follow proper petiquette. Bring waste bags, and be sure to clean up anything your pup drops. This park is pawpular among families with small children, so be sure that your pup stays respectful to all.
The lovely Gwendolyn Brooks Park is sure to get your dog’s tail wagging!
