Kelly Park can be found in the Brighton Park community of Chicago, adjacent to Kelly Park High School. This park offers woofderful facilities that focus on sports, and allow a safe place to enjoy the outdoors with family, friends, and fur-babies. This park is named after Edward J. Kelly, a fourteen-year mayor of Chicago who helped the city cope through the Great Depression, and realize many construction projects.
In partnership with Kelly High School, this park offers many opportunities for sports and recreation. This includes an indoor swimming pool, a large artificial turf athletic field, and playground. Dogs aren’t allowed on these specific areas, but Fido is welcome to watch the outdoor sports from the sidelines!
The most dog friendly parts of this park are the open grassy areas and the paved pathways. Your pooch will just love to dig their toes into the soft natural grass. There is a great pathway that starts at South California Avenue, cuts behind the athletic fields, and connects to South Montgomery Avenue. In the southeast corner of the park, you’ll find a sprawling grass field lined with shade trees, a prime location for having a picnic or reading a book with your best pal.
Kelly Park hosts special events throughout the year, including Movies in the Park screenings and Night Out in the Park events. Whether you want to participate, meet the neighbors, or just watch, you’re sure to find entertainment here.
Kelly Park is a highly sought after green space within the city, so please do your part in keeping the park safe and clean. This includes responsible dog ownership, by doing things like keeping your pupper leashed, under control, and picked up after. Don’t forget the waste bags, and some doggy drinking water if you’re planning on staying a while.
With all the great facilities to be found here, Kelly Park is a people and puppy pleaser!
