Just one block away from Lake Michigan, in the neighborhood of North Kenwood, Chicago, is a treat for people and pups alike, Kennicott Park. This small neighborhood park is just under 3 acres, but it has something in it for everyone. Most importantly, Kennicott Park welcomes dogs!
The entrance to the parking lot can be found on South Woodland Avenue. This will lead you behind the fieldhouse to a spacious free parking lot where you can unload your puppers. If the park is in your neighborhood, why not walk over? Your pooch will appreciate the extra time spent outdoors with their human.
Kennicott Park is mostly recognized for its fieldhouse and indoor amenities. What used to be the Judd Elementary School is now a building featuring a gymnasium, multi-purpose rooms, a fitness center, and more. Only service dogs are allowed inside, but furtunately, the outdoor space is this park is also plentiful.
Your dog will love the large, multi-purpose athletic field to sniff and play on. They are welcome to romp around on the grass while there are no sports in play. If there happen to be sports in play, your pooch can cheer along with you from the sidelines. When your stomach is growling, you can sit back under one of the shade trees and have a picnic with your best pal.
Kennicott Park has many more features that make it appealing to families. There is a playground here, and many events hosted throughout the year. These include Movies in the Park, Night Out in the Park events, and holiday themed activities. You’re welcome to bring your pal to the outdoor events.
