The Lake Kegonsa Dog Beach is a section of beach which can be found in the Lake Kegonsa State Park in Stoughton, Wisconsin. There is adequate parking available both in the main park's lot or in the smaller lot near to the dog beach for vehicles.
The beach is a specially designated area of beach where dogs are permitted to enter into the waters of the lake off-leash. The dog beach itself is a small stretch of soft sand set between several tall trees and is clearly marked with a signpost stating it is the pet swim area. The water close to the shoreline is relatively shallow and so it is suitable for small dogs. A wooden jetty has been installed on the dog beach from which dogs are able to leap into the deeper water.
Dogs must be leashed when not in the water and in all other zones of the park. Regulations require all dog leashes to be no longer than eight feet and preferably shorter. Dogs are allowed access to the park's camping grounds and on all trails except the White Oak Nature Trail. They are not permitted in picnic areas, on the main beach, or in the children's play area.
No provisions have been made at the Lake Kegonsa dog beach for fresh water. Owners wishing to take their dogs swimming should go with adequate bottled water and drinking bowls. Owners must also take a supply of poop bags, which are not provided, and must pick up after their pets. Waste should be deposited in the correct containers.
Restroom facilities are available in the main park. Pet owners must remain in control of their dog at all times and be aware that any violation of the park rules puts them and their pet at risk of being removed from the park.
