Has your doggo been lying around the house all day? Then it’s time grab the leash and head over to Legion Park. This puptastic green space serves the two legged and four legged residents of three neighborhoods.
Legion Park sprawls across 50 acres, so your furry pal
will have plenty of room to roam. North Shore Channel cuts through the middle
of the park. On the west side of the channel, you’ll find a small network of
paved trails. Walk, jog, or run along the paths so your pup can get some much
needed exercise. One route parallels the channel, so your pal can enjoy some
waterfront scenery as they trot along. Also, be sure to check out the beautiful
nature area and pawsome fountain. Since mature trees are scattered throughout the
park, your pal will have some shade during the hot summer months.
The North Shore Channel Trail runs through the east
section of the park. This is actually a 6.7 mile trail that begins at the junction
of Green Bay Road and McCormick Boulevard and travels down to the intersection
of Lawrence Avenue and Francisco Avenue. Only a portion of it passes through
Legion Park. So if your pup has plenty of energy to burn, you can extend your
walk either north or south of the park.
Not only does Legion Park have furrific trails and open lawn for canine visitors, it also features baseball fields, tennis courts, four playgrounds, and a roller hockey arena for humans. Remember to always have some clean up bags so you can pick up after your pooch. And it’s a good idea to bring plenty of water for your furry friend. Above all else, have a woofderful time with your pup!
