Need a new place to walk your canine companion? Leash up your pup and pay a visit to Mandrake Park. This furrific green space serves the residents of the Oakland Community and is a great spot for an afternoon stroll with your fur baby.
At just over 10 acres, it’s definitely not the largest of
parks, but there’s plenty
of room for your pal to explore. The park is actually divided in two with
Cottage Grove Avenue running down the middle. One the east side, you’ll find an
artificial turfed, multipurpose field surrounded by a running track. Dogs aren’t
allowed on either of these, but tell your pup not to worry. A paved path runs
along the park’s perimeter, so they will have a place to exercise. Plus, there
is also open lawn for them to romp around and trees to sniff.
Across the street to the west, the other half of the park
has even more amenities. Two tennis courts, two basketball courts, and two
baseball diamonds cater to the local athletes. Here you’ll also find a pawsome
playground for two legged children. Your furry friend will be pleased to know that
there is also a paved pathway on this side. Continue their workout with a
couple laps around the park. If there are no games in play, venture onto the field
so your pooch can feel the grass beneath their paws.
Don’t forget to bring some clean up bags from home. The other park visitors will greatly appreciate you picking up after your pup. You’ll also want to carry some water and a doggy dish. There are shade trees, but your pup will still get pretty hot and a cold drink will certainly hit the spot. Mandrake Park will make your pup one happy hound!
