If you and Fido are trying to find a new hangout in the Chicago South Loop area, try the Mary Richardson Jones Park next to the South Loop Elementary School on South Plymouth Court at 13th Street. If you have two-legged kids as well, even better because they have a great kid’s playground with a pawesome train and play equipment with jungle gym, swings, and slides for the kiddos too.
Your canine companion will love the grassy knoll right there in the middle of the City of Chicago’s South Loop where they can run and play with other fur buddies right next to the kids’ fun place, which is exciting for many pooches.
The Mary Richardson Jones Park is pretty bare bones with just some grass and trees for the pups to play around in, but it is pretty big, and it does have lighting, so you can play safely after dark since they are open until 11:00 PM. They do not provide doggy cleanup baggies to pick up your doggo’s deposits, but they do have trash cans. The black bin with the big “P” on it (for poo) is the one to use for those special bundles.
If you get tired or just want to sit and watch the cars go by, there's a couple of benches you can use. There's no fence, so you should keep your pooch on a leash, and you should bring your own water as there is none provided. There are no public restrooms either, but the nearby Ping Tom Park on South Wentworth Avenue has several. You and your poochie are going to love this convenient play place right in the heart of Chicago.
