Matthias Baldwin Park is a lovely little park located in Philadelphia’s Logan Square neighborhood. This park opened in 1981, and it’s named after Matthias Baldwin, a businessman who ran a locomotive works factory back in the 19th century. This pawpular two-acre park is home to beautifully manicured gardens, and the park welcomes dogs on leashes that are six feet or shorter!
If you’re looking for a pawesome place to take your pup for a walk, Matthias Baldwin Park is perfect for you. The park is home to scenic paved paths that take you around a series of oval-shaped terrace gardens that are located in the center of the park. These gardens are filled with colorful perennial flowers and low-maintenance shrubs cut in a wide variety of shapes. There are also nine unique rock formations positioned throughout the terraces. Plus, the terraces are lined with native trees that help keep the walking paths shady and cool. You and your pup will both have fun strolling by these beautiful gardens and trees!
If you need a break during your walk, there are plenty of benches throughout the park where you can relax with your pup. These benches offer stunning views of the terrace gardens, and they also provide great views of Downtown Philadelphia. There are also lots of open green spaces throughout the park where you can go for on-leash runs with your furry best friend. You can also have a fun picnic with your pup on these green spaces. If you need to clean up after your dog, doggy bags and trash cans are both available throughout the park.
