Sometimes dogs living in the city need a quiet spot to reflect on their canine thoughts. That’s where Park No. 517 comes in. It’s small. It’s easily overlooked. And it doesn’t have many amenities. But this furrific little park will absolutely brighten your doggo’s day!
Many urbanites walk right pass this half acre park every day. Nestled on the corner of Thorndale Avenue and Sheridan Road, this park is located in the Edgewater Community. It’s only a block away from Lake Michigan and sits right across the street from Lane Beach and a pawsome playground. Wander through the gate so your pooch can check out everything this park has to offer.
The park’s gorgeous gardens are its main feature. During the warmer months, the flower beds are chock full of coneflowers, daylilies, tube flowers, and many other beautiful blooms. All of these flowers draw in butterflies and birds, which just add to the park’s beauty. As they meander through this well kept green space, your doggo will also find some patches of grass to sniff around. And the benches beneath the lovely round pergola are the pawfect place to paws for a break. Your furry pal can do a bit of people watching or just soak up the sun. There are also a couple short pathways through the garden. You may see a couple other people during your visit, but for the most part, this park is usually pretty quiet.
As always, be sure you have some clean up bags on hand.
The only thing park visitors want to smell are the fragrant flowers!
Also, it’s a good idea to carry some water. Make no mistake, your furry friend will go mutts over Park No. 517!
