Park No 528 may not have a very exciting name, but don’t let that fool you! This park is a lovely place to enjoy some outdoor play time with your doggo. The park can be found in the southeast corner of the West Lawn neighborhood in Chicago, right near the Chicago Midway International Airport. Local pups and people love living in close proximity to this neighborhood hang.
A community center and free parking can be found at the main entrance of the park along South Kilbourn Avenue. If you live locally, walking to the park would make a great addition to your morning walk with Fifi. For athletic types passing through on a run, here you will find plenty of open space to do a workout in the fresh air.
This park is mostly used for its baseball diamonds, and is home of the West Lawn Little League. While puppers are not allowed on the fields while there are games in play, they’re allowed to stick with you while you cheer from the sidelines. If there are no sports in progress, doggos can sniff and play on the grass to their delight. On the sidelines you’ll find plenty of seating under shade trees, or under shelters.
The pawfect place for a picnic, this park also has a seasonal concession stand. If the stand isn’t open, there are plenty of restaurants along West 63rd Street where you can grab lunch to go and eat in the park with your best pal.
Dogs are welcome to join their humans on the fun in this park, as long as the pet parents follow some ground rules. These include keeping your dog leashed at all times, and picking up after them. Don’t forget to bring along some waste bags, and some drinking water for your pup if you’re planning on staying a while.
The wide open spaces and greenery in Park No 528 are sure to be a puppy pleaser!
