Promontory Point is a man-made peninsula that juts out into the majestic Lake Michigan, and is located within the expansive Burnham Park. This peninsula was constructed so that locals, visitors, and their pups, can enjoy a spot in the sun with gorgeous views. Promontory Point offers fantastic views of the downtown Chicago skyline, and the industrial skyline of Gary, Indiana and East Chicago. It’s always a good idea to stop by this park with your canine companion, where everywhere you turn is a beautiful sight.
If you want to enjoy some invigorating exercise and fresh air with your best pal, you can make use of some of the multi-use pathways that wind through this park. The Lakefront Trail also passes through this park, an iconic 18 mile trail that connects Chicago’s four major lakefront parks. If you’d prefer to just kick back and relax, there are plenty of lovely areas to do so here. The smooth rocks by the water are pawpular among swimmers and sunbathers, and there a fire pits to make use of on the chilly evenings. Don’t forget a sweater, or at least cuddle up next to your doggo, because the peninsula can get cool and windy.
Some of the attractive features of this park include the Wallach Fountain near the entrance, and the raised meadow section at the heart of the park. The park also has a fieldhouse, and hosts a wide variety of events throughout the year. In fact the park is so pretty, that it is a common wedding venue location.
Puppers are allowed to enjoy this park with their humans, as long as they stay leashed and follow proper petiquette. Don’t forget the waste bags, and to make sure your dog is only leaving behind paw prints.
