The Redstone Arsenal RV Park Dog Park is an off-leash area on the RV site outside of Redstone Arsenal military base in Huntsville, Alabama. This is a military orientated RV park, and the dog off-leash area is reserved for the exclusive use of the people staying there. To park a vehicle on the Redstone Arsenal RV Park you need to be either still in active military service, be a retired veteran, or be a civilian under contract to the military. No other users are permitted. The RV park has three different sites.
Two are dedicated solely to overnight hook-ups and the third for longer stays which can be either sixty or ninety days depending on the season. The RV park is open twelve months of the year. The site charges $20 per day or $120 per week. All users of the facility are entitled to use the dog park to exercise their pet at no extra charge. While everyone who stays at the RV park is required to be in military service, this doesn't apply to the dogs. Pet pups are just as welcome in the off-leash area as service dogs.
Around the base and when walking along the forested jogging trails, dogs must be kept on a leash at all times. This is recommended if owners are walking their dogs off base at night too, especially if they have a small dog. There has been more than the occasional sighting of coyotes in the area, and these can prove to be dangerous for mini mutts off their leashes as coyotes consider toy-sized pups to be prey.
While the Redstone Arsenal RV Park Dog Park is open for use twenty-four hours a day, the off-leash area has no lighting so is pretty dark after sunset. This doesn't worry the dogs too much but owners may want to resort to wearing night vision goggles so they can see where they're going.
