Red Rock Canyon Open Space Upper and Lower Dog Loop Trails

Red Rock Canyon Open Space is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This 785-acre natural wonderland boasts of two trails which run in a loop for Fido and his family to explore. Dogs are welcome on all hiking trails at Red Rock Canyon Open Space, however, they must remain leashed at all times, with two exceptions.

Your dog can traverse the Upper and Lower Dog Loop off-leash, so long as they are good under voice command. The Upper Dog Loop runs for 1-mile, while the Lower Dog Loop clocks in at about 0.5-mile. The Lower Loop also overlooks the highway and can be noisier, so the Upper Loop is better for skittish pups. If your dog still has the wiggles, clip the leash back on and explore the other furrific on leash trails throughout the open space. 

Entrance to this public park facility is free of charge. There is a bathroom on site. However, it is unknown if there is a fresh water supply to meet Fido's hydration needs. It is advisable for owners to carry with them a bottle of water and a vessel suitable for drinking. 

Park literature states that poop bags are available on the premises. Some visitors to the park have noted that the dispensers are sometimes empty. For this reason, it is wise for owners to carry some extra bags with them. Owners are required by park officials to pick up and properly dispose of all canine waste materials in the provided on-site trash receptacles.

There are no posted regulations governing the use of the park space. It is highly recommended that all dogs be current on vaccinations including rabies.
