The focal point of the park is a furrifically beautiful fountain designed by the renowned artist Jerzy Kenar. Also found in this pawrific play haven is a sculpture dedicated to the memory of some prominent African American figures including Muddy Waters, Mahalia Jackson, Dinah Washington, and Gwendolyn Brooks.
Renaissance Park was formerly an area that was quite rundown. When repurposed as a community playground, it was named "Renaissance" to play homage to the rebirth of the property as a beautiful and useful space.
