Ridge Park is a lovely green space where pets and their people can enjoy some fresh air and sunshine. As the first park created in the Beverly Community, its ties to the area go back several decades. Interestingly enough, the tree lined ridge on its western boundary is not only how the park got its name, but it was also once part of the ancient glacial Lake Chicago.
Ridge Park features a pawsome building with an
auditorium, gym, fitness center, and indoor swimming pool. The park’s classes,
camps, and recreation programs keep the locals busy. Outside you will find
baseball fields, tennis courts, and a playground. During the year, the park
hosts several seasonal events.
While all of these amenities are woofderful, your furry
friend will be more interested in the furrific walking path that circles the
park. A few laps around the loop will get your pal’s heart rate pumping and
give them a chance to burn off some energy. Since the path passes the ballfields, they may even catch a glimpse of a friendly neighborhood game.
If your doggo prefers aimlessly wandering to taking laps, stroll
around the open grass area so their nose can get to work. If there are no
games in play, the baseball fields are a great place to start. But if the ball
diamonds are occupied, never fear, your pup can sniff around the grass patch on the north end of the park. Plus, this
area has plenty of mature trees for shade and relaxing under.
No matter where you and your pup wander in the park, be
sure to always have a couple clean up bags ready to go. And since your pooch is
bound to get thirsty during their visit, carry plenty of cold drinking water
for them. Your doggo will have an unfurgettable time at Ridge Park!
