Commodore Park, located near Tanforan mall and across from the Golden Gate National Cemetery, is one of the biggest parks managed by the City of San Bruno. It includes the city’s only official dog park. Many families visit the park to picnic at one of the three different picnic areas, or to play a pickup game of softball at Bob Greenberg Field.
The dog park is a completely enclosed play area situated on the eastern border of the park. It includes two dog runs in which owners can supervise their dogs as they mix and mingle. The nature of the layout encourages dog owners to meet each other and communicate about how they would like their dogs to socialize.
Overall, the park is a pleasant and quiet place to spend some quality time with your dog. There are plenty of trees at the park, a restroom for visitors, and a large playground for children to explore. Numerous benches, water fountains, and rest areas make this park an accessible and easy place to visit.
The City of San Bruno has made a list of rules publicly available through its website, and for the most part, these include common sense rules such as cleaning up after your dog and making sure that everyone and every dog is safe. The park only allows for three dogs per adult at a time, and the city requires that dogs are brought in and out of the park on-leash.
Once inside, the dogs may run off-leash, and it is implied that the two separate dog runs are used to separate small and large dogs when possible and if desired. Each run has poop bags for you to use, so you won’t have to worry about packing your own or forgetting them at home.Commodore Park is a fun and relaxing area in which to pass the time, and the dog park offers an easy and accessible place for your dog to spend some time playing outside with other dogs. Plan a barbeque, take the family out for a picnic, and simply enjoy a dog-filled afternoon or evening.
