San Bruno Mountain State Park is found at the northern end of the Santa Cruz Mountain Range and has a 1,319 ft elevation. It features 2,416 acres of rugged landscapes, and it offers terrific hiking and biking opportunities. Breathtaking views of San Francisco and Central Bay Area are seen from here.
Hiking is the most popular activity here at San Bruno Mountain State Park. The starting point is at the park's entrance. You can also ride your bike if you're the adventurous type. Tip: The best part of biking to the top is that you get to experience the high-speed ride back down.
However, if neither hiking or biking are viable options for you, then make your way up by car. The existing road leads directly to the summit. Although this place makes you want to take your dog out for a hike, such a thing is not possible. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed off-leash at San Bruno Mountain State Park.
Besides hiking, sightseeing is also pretty popular here at San Bruno Mountain State Park. Driving up the Radio Road to the Summit offers unique vistas of Mt. Tamalpais, Mt. Diablo, and Farallon Islands. Furthermore, the park also features picnic sites located near the main entrance.
There are tables, barbeque pits, and restrooms. Plus, the grass area nearby is excellent for fun activities such as volleyball or kite-flying. San Bruno Mountain State Park is home to 14 rare species of plants. The area also hosts nectar plants of endangered butterflies that are found only in a few places around the world.
