Need a new place to walk your four legged friend? Look no further. Sauganash Park is the pawfect place to spend some quality time with your doggo. Named after the Potawatomi Chief, the park shares its name with the surrounding neighborhood. So grab the leash and head on over!
Sauganash Park is home to several furrific programs. With an
indoor auditorium and gym, it’s well equipped to host day camps, music classes,
and other recreation courses for youth and adults alike. For those who’d rather
be outside, Sauganash Park has two small softball fields, four tennis courts,
and a playground.
So where does your pooch fit into all of this? Well, unfurtunately,
canine visitors aren’t able to go in the buildings, and they probably won’t
want to play on the playground. Thankfully, Sauganash Park has a pawsome paved
walking path that circles the property. Your furry friend can trot along and
wag their tail at the two legged park patrons. Take a couple laps around the
park for a little doggy cardio. Or, if they prefer to aimlessly wander, let
them sniff their way around the lawn. Just make sure there aren’t any games in
session. If needed, paws for a break under one of the shade trees.
The Sauganash Park also has access to the Valley Line
Trail. This one mile trail runs from Bryn Mawr Avenue to Devon Avenue, and has
a couple bridges that help users avoid busy streets. If you want to make your
pup an extra happy hound, extend your walk on this trail and let them see more
of the Sauganash neighborhood.
As always, be sure to bring a couple clean up bags along
and pick up whatever your pooch puts down. Your doggo will be most appreciative
if you also carry some cold water for them. You and your pup will have a furrific
time at Sauganash Park!
