In the heart of Little Italy in Chicago, you can find a “fantastico” park to check out with your canine companion. Sheridan Park is a 4.5 acre, family and dog friendly park located on South Aberdeen Street. The park may be small, but it’s big on community, and opportunities for recreation. As a bonus, there is a great view of the Chicago city skyline you can enjoy from here.
Sheridan Park is mostly used for it’s athletic fields and courts, which can get quite busy on afternoons and weekends. No doubt your pupper's favorite part will be the grassy areas and paved walkways. These features make Sheridan Park a must to add to your morning walk with your best pal. You’re likely to even meet some new furry friends, and enjoy some pawsitive socialization.
This family friendly park also has a playground and interactive water spray feature. Within the three-story fieldhouse, you can find other amenities such as restrooms, an indoor pool, gymnasium, and multipurpose clubhouses, and classrooms. Because of the large size of the fieldhouse, some locals refer to Sheridan Park as a “high-rise park”.
Sheridan Park hosts a variety of events throughout the year for the whole family. The outdoor events can include the family dogs, as long as they don’t cause a disruption. Some of these include Movies in the Park screenings, holiday themed events, and game nights. Whether you’d like to participate, meet some neighbors, or simply people watch, you’re sure to find some entertainment here.
Dogs are more than welcome to join their two-legged friends on the fun in this park, as long as some simple rules are followed. Please keep Fido leashed at all times, and stoop and scoop whenever necessary. Don’t forget the doggy waste bags, and some treats for your good boy or girl!
With the many opportunities for playtime in Sheridan Park, it’s sure to get your dog’s tail wagging!
