There is so much to do in a big city such as Chicago, Illinois, and your pup would not like to be left out. So, head over to Welles Park and take advantage of the outdoor space this park has to offer you and your pawtastic friend.
Located in the Welles neighborhood, this park can be easily accessed by parking on the adjacent streets or in a nearby garage. Don’t worry about bringing anything but your pup and their leash to spend some quality time together for an hour or the entire day.
The park sits on 15 acres and offers plenty of paved paths which meander throughout to take Fido for a leisurely stroll. These paths are perfectly suited to any fitness-level pup since they are level and handicapped accessible. Keep them on a 6' leash here, or find an out-of-the way area in the open, grassy locations found in the park for an extended-leash romp. Your pup will be happy to roll in the landscaped grounds or lie down for a rest under the shade of the many trees. There is a beautiful gazebo which is frequented by musicians where you can put down a blanket, relax and enjoy the music or concerts. Summertime brings movies in the park where your pup is welcome to attend.
Other park features include several sports fields and a fieldhouse that offers a pool and fitness center. Tennis courts and playgrounds dot the landscape, so make sure to stop by and sit on the provided benches to enjoy watching a match or the kiddies playing. You will also most likely catch the neighborhood residents playing a game of horseshoes. Restrooms are located in the field house, but drinking fountains are outside and operational during the warmer months of the year. Bring water during the colder months, and clean up bags every time to help keep the park pawsome!
