Managed by the Winchester Country Homeowners Association, this small, private dog park opened in 2007 and is a bit restrictive, currently only open to residents. This residential dog park is located off West Road and comes with a double gate for security. There is no separate area for large and small dogs so be extra careful if you are bringing small dogs to avoid injuries.
The dog park lacks playground options for dogs and residents are clamoring for something more for their dogs, such as an obstacle course. This fenced-in area has only a few trees for shade and a picnic table where dog owners can sit and enjoy snacks while making sure their dogs stay out of trouble.
There are no water fountains so pack some water before heading to the park, so you and your dog are well-hydrated. There are no restrooms on the premises, so use the toilet before leaving the house. The park has a pick-up bag station so there is no excuse whatsoever not to pick up after your dog and contribute to the efforts of keeping the park clean for everyone.
However, some park goers have mentioned that sometimes there are no doggie poop bags, so it is best to bring some of your own. Although not rated as one of the top and best dog parks in Houston, Winchester Country Neighborhood Dog Park is good enough if you need a nearby and safe place for your dog to get his daily exercise and socialization after or before your work.
Well-maintained and fairly clean, the park does not receive a lot of visitors, so it is a good option for people who want a quiet place to bring their dogs to. The only downside is, your pooch will not have many dogs to play and interact with.
