Introduction

Astro City is unique among all other super hero comic books because it was the first (and still is one of the only few) comic book franchises to adopt the model of an anthology series that doesn't focus on one particular character or group of characters over another. The Astro City comics aren't restricted to following one character or one story arc, rather the stories in the series bound around and follow various characters who live in the eponymous Astro City; one issue, you could be following the exploits of the Samaritan as he struggles against a powerful foe while the next issue could be told from the perspective of a civilian who was inadvertently caught in the crossfire. Further still, the next issue after that could be told from the perspective of the villain who's reflecting on their life after they've just been defeated by the Samaritan. This unique series will provide a plethora of tags with which to bestow upon your new addition.

Astro City Inspired Dog Name Considerations

Astro City can be thought of as the comic book equivalent of a "slice of life" series; despite featuring characters who have marvelous powers and abilities, the stories told in the Astro City comics, as well as the characters the stories are about, are really quite down to Earth. The series isn't all that concerned with depicting the heroes as infallible symbols of righteousness nor is it fixated on depicting the villains as nefarious bad guys and bad girls who want to take over the world or simply commit crime "For the Evulz." Rather, Astro City is more concerned about depicting its heroes, villains, and civilian characters as people who are just trying to make it from one day to the next. If you're a dog owner who appreciates the unique way Astro City approaches the super hero mythos, consider naming your dog after one of the series' characters.

Conversely, I also suggest that you name your dog after a character whose personality, physical traits, and even abilities match up with your dog's; do you own a Corgi or a Collie? Consider naming your dog after one of Astro City's newer heroes, G-Dog. Are you currently caring for a Beagle, or will you eventually find yourself caring for one in the near future? Consider naming that dog "Rocket" after Astro City's own Rocket Dog.
