Introduction

Return to Oz is a fantasy film released in 1985 and is directed by Walter Murch. Based on the Oz novels by L. Frank Baum, this serves as the unofficial sequel of the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. The story of the film revolves around Dorothy Gale and her return to the Land of Oz. Here, she helps her friends to overthrow the evil Nome King and restore the country. The film comes after Walt Disney Productions obtained the rights to Oz books and decided to produce a follow-up film to the original. While the Return of Oz was not a success in the box office, it received some positive reviews. Moreover, the film did well outside of the United States and has since become a cult classic.
