Introduction

The 3D animated movie The Croods was released in the United States by Dreamworks Animation and 20th Century Fox in March of 2013. It is set in the fictitious era referred to as the Croodaceous period, a time in which humans were still living in caves and strange fictional, prehistoric creatures such as the Macawnivore, a brightly colored sabertooth cat, roam the land. It follows a family of cavepeople who survived by leading extremely sheltered lives due to the overprotective patriarch, Grug, but is forced to leave their cave due to a massive earthquake. They encounter a person named Guy, who has a more adventurous and inventive personality and although Grug and Guy do not see eye-to-eye at first, the Croods and Guy end up traveling together to search for the land of Tomorrow.

The Croods Inspired Dog Name Considerations

There are many sources of inspiration for choosing a fitting name for your new canine companion. Some individuals choose to honor a friend or family member by naming their dog after them, while others may find inspiration in the name of a celebrity or an expert in a field that appeals to them. Still, others may choose to look towards their favorite book, television show, or movie. For those who enjoy the Dreamworks animated movie, The Croods, or the subsequent television show “Dawn of the Croods,” there is plenty of inspiration to be found in these shows, and many ways in which to pinpoint exactly the right name for your puppy pal. For those who are planning on having a hunting dog, a name like Amber, Grug, or even Bonkers may be appropriate, while a gentle therapy dog may prefer a name like Root. Many people choose to highlight their dog’s personality or habits by choosing a name like Belt or Chunky for a particularly loyal animal, or Jackrobat, Ramu, or Chickuna for a speedy, agile canine. Other individuals may choose to name their pet based on a physical characteristic, such as Macawnivore or Turtle Dove for an especially colorful dog, Bulk or Girelephant for a large dog, or even Bearpear or Monkhuahua for a smaller sized canine.
