It's Uncharted! Oh, Nathan Drake and his awesome adventures with Sully and Elena. Those were the games of a lifetime, and they were all thanks to the amazing developers at NaughtyDog. Speaking of dogs, if you've been searching for the right name for your dog, maybe try an Uncharted name! It's an amazing series, filled with action and adventure, enough to get anyone's adrenaline pumping. And more so, it has memorable characters. So many players connected with Sully and Nathan. So many players felt like they had known and befriended these characters for years. Here are some Uncharted 2 names to get you started.
Uncharted 2 Dog Names in Pop Culture
Vicky the Labrador Retriever didn't appear until Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. It may not be Uncharted 2, but Vicky's presence is essentially a culmination of growing pains and adult decision-making all throughout the series. Here's what we mean.
The series sees Nathan Drake, the main protagonist, grow up. In all of the games, he gets a little older, a little wiser. In the beginning, he's a bit careless, always finding trouble, and always on the hunt for a treasure. By the end of the game, he's still got that adventuring spirit, but he's much more... calm about it. He's focused on Elena, and on his family. His daughter Cassie and the family dog, Vicky.
If NaughtyDog had written in Vicky in the very first or second game, it would have changed the story dramatically. Nathan wouldn't have been the same character he was in those two games. Truth is, he wasn't ready for her at the time. He was much too careless, and certainly didn't care about settling down with anyone, starting a family, or owning a pet. He just wanted to travel the world and hunt for gold! So, again, Vicky is very much a symbol of all the growing pains and adult decision-making all throughout the series. The big cherry on top of a long journey, so to speak.
In Chapter 11 of A Thief's End, we learn a little more about Vicky. There is a photo of her as a puppy, with a young Cassie (Nathan's daughter), which means Vicky is roughly 9 to 12 years old by the time we see her in the ending of the game. By this point, they've already grown up together, taken pictures, gone on adventures of their own. Still, Vicky keeps up with Cassie despite her older age, and seems to be in tip-top shape, with no lethargy or visible health concerns. Of course, one has to wonder about her name too.
Vicky is named after Victor Sullivan, better known as Sully in the series. Nathan claims he will buy a dog, to which Sully offers to adopt one for them. Nathan agrees as long as he can name the dog after him (Sully). Assuming Sully did buy the dog after all, it's likely he bought a female to prevent naming the dog "Victor." Vicky is the shortened version of Victoria, so clearly, the name still pays tribute to Nathan's best friend.
Uncharted 2 Dog Name Considerations
When you're naming a dog, are you just thinking of names that you like, or are you looking to do about it in a more meaningful way? Turns out, both methods are just fine, and largely depend on whether or not you have the dog right now, and whether you're adopting from a breeder, or rescuing from a shelter.
At the end of the day, you won't know anything about a dog from the shelter until you rescue him or her, simply because you have no idea what types of dogs you're going to find there. Assuming you do know something about the dog, you can always use gained knowledge to select a meaningful name. Things like gender, breed, likes and dislikes, personality or even favorite toys. All of it can be used to influence a name selection.
But if you don't, don't worry. It's perfectly acceptable to select a name that is based on a famous series, such as Uncharted. If you're a fan, it's highly likely that you have fond memories of playing it and remember specific moments that resonated with you. Maybe moments in the story that left a lasting impression. Use your own experience playing the game to dictate which names really stand out, and which don't.
