About the caregiver

Hey, I'm Jake! Working with animals is my passion; I couldn't imagine life without them. Throughout my 24 years, I've never lived in a house with less than 3 animals. I've always had 2 dogs, cat, and a tortoise. Now, I have have 3 dogs and that same tortoise. There have been several occasions where my house has had 5 or 6 dogs, along with our cat, from watching dogs for my friends or our family friends. These were dogs that neither my dogs nor myself had met, and they stayed in our house, sometimes multiple weeks at a time. I've experienced situations like this with small dogs, big dogs, and even a combination of both. With my youngest dog Jax, we've been training to pass the Canine Good Citizen certification test through the American Kennel Club. She's a pitbull foxhound mix who is easily excited, so for nearly the past 2 years, we have been training basic obedience and leash training, with a heavy focus on patience and staying focused, especially in public. We also run through a small obstacle course in our back yard with tunnels and jumps, which is great for burning some energy. A lifetime working with animals is what I plan to pursue. I took 3 years of college, with a biology focused major, but dropped out at the end of 2020 to go after a life taking care of animals, but not necessarily performing surgery on them. I one day hope to run an animal rescue and sanctuary, providing care and finding homes for all kinds of animals. But for now, I would love to help you with any pet care that I can!
