San Diego has cooperative weather for dog walkers to enjoy leisurely strolls or long hikes in the region. Summers are hot, dry, and sunny. Winters are cool, but temperatures are still above freezing most of the time. There is more wet weather with some fog in the winter and also in the spring, however, these seasons still have plenty of sunny weather to enjoy.
What is the terrain like in Jamacha Lomita?
Jamacha-Lomita is an irregularly shaped neighborhood with the Skyline neighborhood on the southwest side, Broadway Heights on the northwest side, the city of Lemon Grove to the north, and the Bay Freeway to the east. This neighborhood is a developed residential community which is predominately made up of single-family homes with some multi-family dwellings as well. Homes are moderate in size and are situated on well cared for and maintained properties.
There is a large valley with natural terrain and elevation changes that runs east-west through the region and separates the north and south sections of the neighborhood. The area has some elevation changes between residential sections and especially where the natural green space is located. Dog walkers and their canine companions will need to hike some hills to navigate the area.
While many residential streets have separate sidewalks for pedestrians and pets, some do not. When it is necessary to share the road with local traffic, keep your dog securely leashed.
