Top dog walkers in Lakewood Heights
Wag! Walkers know Lakewood Heights
Lakewood Heights is located in Dallas, Texas in an area commonly referred to as East Dallas. It's a residential neighborhood reaching from Abrams Road on the east to Monticello Avenue north and Skillman Street west and Richmond Avenue south. Over 1000 homes occupy this suburb in the heart of Dallas.
While there are no dog-friendly businesses to try in the neighborhood, you and your furry friend can still find lots to see on your walks. More and more families are making their way to this vibrant part of town and with them come their furry kids. Keep your head up and watch for opportunities to make new friends and perhaps set up a dog date with a fellow walker.
Dallas weather is Texas weather: hot in the summer and mild in the winter. Watch for the occasional bad storms that can pop up in the afternoon heat. On your walkabout, stay hydrated and keep water on hand for Fido too!
What is the terrain like in Lakewood Heights?
Lakewood Heights is a true suburban neighborhood consisting of residential homes. Old growth trees flourish in the area with some fantastic Bois d ‘arc trees that appear to be kneeling on the ground. Do nature a favor and lead Fido away from the older trees to do their business and make sure to clean up after them.
This area is an excellent combination of artificial and natural terrain, but most of the natural will be found as private lawns, so be considerate of waste and pack it out. A relatively flat terrain can make your walk an easy one, so you might consider power walking with an experienced dog or joining up with other walkers in the area.
Automotive traffic will still be present in the neighborhood, but speed limits reduce the further into the community you go. Again, be watchful of traffic patterns and obey pedestrian traffic laws for your safety and your pup's!
How many greenways are there in Lakewood Heights?
Lakewood Heights boasts one of the most beautiful parks in Dallas proper. Tietze Park is a community park of about 9 acres, dating all the way back to 1924! This is a great place to visit with your pup. Located on Skillman Street, the park has something for everyone with walking paths and shaded benches to take a rest. While not an off-leash experience for Fido, this can be an opportunity for some extended leash training or just a chance to catch some history on the walking paths that meander through the park.
The neighborhood is also within walking distance of White Rock Lake, the largest urban lake in the U.S. Besides being a great lake to visit, you can find one of the four off-leash dog parks at the lake. White Rock Lake Dog Park is at 8000 Mockingbird Lane and is an awesome 3-acre fenced area with separate large and small dog areas and many dog comfort amenities!
