Wag! Walkers know Urban Reserve
Welcome to the future and environmental sustainability! The Urban Reserve is Dallas' answer to modern and it does not disappoint. It is part of the Lake Highlands community with a nod to living in sync with nature. It is a walker's dream come true! You and your canine companion will find yourself with easy access to White Rock Trail on the south and west and between Forest Lane and Royal Lane respectively.
Urban Reserve is a small neighborhood community of just 50 homes, so there are no dog-friendly businesses or restaurants here. Instead, you will find jaw-dropping, unique homes built by award winning architects nestled among some gorgeous green to ponder. Beat the Texas summer heat with walks in the morning and capture some of the best nature views Dallas has to offer this close to the city. Winters are mild in Dallas, leaving walks to be fresh and crisp but quite enjoyable for you and your dog.
What is the terrain like in Urban Reserve?
You can have the best of both worlds! Natural and modern environments can be found here as thought was given to the planning of a neighborhood. The result is one of the best combinations of artificial and natural space that you will find close to a major metropolitan city like Dallas. You will be taking Fido on a walk that includes wide sidewalks, nature trails, and plenty of green!
A nice balance of rolling hills and flat terrain are present in the neighborhood, so be prepared for a bit of exercise for both you and your pup. All of the green spaces and even the yards surrounding the homes in the neighborhood proper are areas that the Homeowner's Association maintains so there is a consistency about the look and feel. There are common green spaces to be found but keep in mind that folks here might be strict about waste. Be prepared to clean up after your pup.
How many greenways are there in Urban Reserve?
The Urban Reserve planners wanted to create a livable space that sustained the environment. While most of the green spaces within the small neighborhood are either community areas or private lawns, more common green spaces are a short jaunt for you and your furry friend. Jump on the White Rock Creek Trail just off Vanguard and head south. Off to the east, you will find Orbiter Park, a 10.9-acre park which has a large open green field for longer leashes.
Carefully cross Royal Lane with your pup close by and follow the trail to the Royal Oaks Country Club's golf course for about a mile, depending on where you start in Urban Reserve, to Northwood Park. A good workout for both you and your dog will be rewarded when you reach the 6.5-acre park with excellent amenities such as drinking fountains, picnic tables, and pavilions. Keep in mind that both parks are on-leash experiences for your pup.
