Introduction

The syndicated daily comic strip Peanuts, penned by Charles M. Schulz, is considered to be one of the most popular and influential comic strips in American history. It ran for just a few months shy of fifty years and at its peak, it graced the pages of over 2,600 different newspapers in twenty-one different languages and spawned several animated television shows, movies, and holiday specials. Peanuts helped to entrench the four-panel gag strip as the standard in the United States as well as introducing us to the iconic characters of Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, and the rest of the gang.

Peanuts Dog Name Considerations

Choosing a name for your new canine companion is an important task which can also be quite rewarding. Picking a name that is difficult to pronounce consistently or clearly may lead to confusion on the part of your pet while choosing a name or sound that your dog naturally responds to may help to improve the effectiveness of both bonding and training. Choosing a name that means something to you or that makes you happy is often helpful and for many fans of the syndicated comic strip Peanuts, this list may give you some smile-worthy inspiration.

Many Peanuts loving pet-parents may choose their dog's names from the main core of characters, choosing names like Charlie Brown, Sally, Lucy, or Linus while others may prefer to explore the names of more peripheral characters, naming their thoughtful or practical dog Marcie or Franklin, their dirt loving dog Pig-Pen, or choosing a name like Scout for their dog that likes to wander. There are plenty of options if you prefer names that represent the non-human characters of Peanuts as well. Although the name Snoopy rarely lands on lists of most popular names, there are 164 dogs named Snoopy registered in New York City alone and four with the moniker Woodstock. Other non-human characters may include members of Snoopy’s family and some of the cats that have lived near the Brown’s home.
