Swedish Vallhund Dog Names

With the Swedish Vallhund still being a rare breed within the United States, it can be rather difficult to find any mention of the breed except for their excellence in dog sports. Being a small herding breed, chances are they will not necessarily be the first or even the second choice of companion for the rich and famous. However, the loyalty of the Swedish Vallhund endears them to everyone they meet. Diane Polito of West Milford, New Jersey is one such person that has fallen in love with the Swedish Vallhund. Polito has been showing dogs since 1998 and has handled a variety of dogs since then. She became familiar with the Swedish Vallhund a few years ago and even had her first competitor for the Westminster Kennel Club’s annual dog show held at Madison Square Garden in New York City in 2015. She handled her Swedish Vallhund named Jonricker Prince Oscar BN RN AXP MJP2 OA OF to a best of breed win but did not go any further in the show. 

Fast forward to 2018 and once again Polito has been issued an invitation to the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club dog show. This time she had Annie, or rather, Champion Akutchi’s If You Could See Me Know At Kanouse, CGC RN ACT1 NAP NFP at her side as they tried once again for the big prize of best in show. Annie was flawless during breed competition and won best of breed, but once again herding group win or even placement eluded them. Polito is not disappointed though and still works with Annie in the rally, obedience and agility rings where she has earned a plethora of titles and prizes. Annie’s breeder, Charlene Sayles or Oregon was also not disappointed by Annie’s appearance at Westminster. Polito will continue to work with Annie to earn the grand championship before Annie is officially retired from the conformation show ring. Since Annie is just two years old, she will probably continue to compete in other dog sports well into the future with Polito. While most people are just now learning about the Swedish Vallhund, there are those across the United States that are diligently working towards the betterment of the breed and constantly thrusting these dogs into the spotlight when they can. Take a trip to your local AKC sanctioned dog show and check out any Swedish Vallhunds that may be competing. Their owners or handlers, like Polito, will be more than happy to discuss the perks of owning one of these compact herding dogs.
