While it can be difficult to find dog friendly places for some grub, you can drop by Dexter Bar-B-Que with your pup. This pawsome restaurant has a much-loved American menu, complete with burgers, beef brisket and ribs. There is no better place for slow pit-smoked meat! Plus, there are three outdoor tables available where you can chill out and spend some time with your furry friend while you eat.

Parkview

When you are in the Parkview neighborhood, you have got to pay a visit to the oldest park in Jackson, the Jackson City Park! This pawsome spot has been around since 1933 and features over 87 acres to expend some excitable energy with your furry friend. There is a 1.5 mile recreational trail where you can take your pup for a wander, as well as grass, basketball courts and horse shoe pits for some family fun in the sun. There is also a beautiful flower garden here. All dogs are welcome at Jackson City Park, as long they remain on their leash.

Odus Drive

For a leisurely stroll and some beautiful scenery, head over to Litz Park. This puptastic place is the best place to be when the sun is shining, and offers 37 acres of green grass that your furry friend will love to explore. There is a 0.5 mile walking trail around the park for some exercise, as well as picnics tables for a rest. In addition, there is a two acre fishing lake here, which has bass, catfish and crappie. All pups can be top dog here at Litz Park, as long as they remain on leash.

Oak Ridge/ Pocahontas

A pawsome place for an outdoor adventure with your pup is at the Trail of Tears State Park! Here you can learn about parts of Native American history, as well as explore the sniff-tastic trails through the park. Dogs are welcome to hike with you, as long as they remain on leash. You can hike through the forests and stroll along the scenic boardwalks to enjoy the views of the Mississippi River. Your furry friend will love to investigate all of the new scents and sights of nature here; be sure to bring some water and treats for the journey!

Sherwood/ Briarwood

Only a few miles from Jackson, you will find pup paradise; the Dog Town Playground at Kiwanis Park! This pawsome spot in Cape Girardeau features a fenced area for small and large dogs to exercise and play, as well as a tunnel for some fun. There is also a dog water fountain for your panting pup and picnic tables where you can chill out and watch your dog’s tail wag all day long!
