Kiwanis Park
A great feature of the Kiwanis Park neighborhood is the Dog Town Playground at Kiwanis Park. The 1-acre park offers a fenced area for both large and small pups in addition to a variety of amenities. Your pooch can explore the dog tunnel, sniff around the fire hydrant, and get a cool drink at the doggie water fountain. Pup parents will enjoy the picnic tables where you can chat with other dog lovers, and the park provides clean up bags to make sure the area stays clean. Osage Park
Spending the day at the Cape Wood Conservation Area in the Osage Park neighborhood is fun for the entire family. The area is surrounded by forest and features an asphalt walking trail. You and your pup can wander through the bottom head forest and admire the Cape LaCroix Creek that winds along the trail. There are restrooms available where you can refill your water bottles. If you are hungry after your walk, stop by Ciao Ristorante and Enoteca where you can try some traditional Italian dishes and relax at one of the outdoor tables. If you and Fido are craving a burger, check out Beef “O” Brady’s, where you can get a cold drink, Angus burger, and Funnel Fries while spending time with your pup on the patio.

South Cape
Located in the South Cape neighborhood, Indian Park offers 1.9-acres of space where Fido can run and play. When visiting the park, you and your pup can wander through the paths and read the historical markers featuring information from the past about the local Indian tribes. If you bring your two-legged children, they will have fun on the playground or playing a game a basketball. Be sure to bring your own water bottle and doggie waste bags. One of the oldest parks in the city is a wonderful feature of the Parkview Dr neighborhood. Capaha Park covers 39 acres near Southeast Missouri State University and provides an excellent area to walk Fido any time of the day or night. With a collegiate size baseball field, you will often find ball games being played, but there is still plenty of room to stroll with your pup or relax by the fishing pond. The kid’s playground is perfect when planning an outing for the entire family and you can bring healthy snacks for the ducks and geese – just be sure to keep Fido on a leash. If you also need a snack, head over to El Sol Mexican Restaurant and enjoy a burrito or enchilada at the outdoor seating.
