With a gorgeous coastline stretching for hundreds of miles across the country, there are plenty of beaches where you can bring your dog. And, when in Chile, you absolutely must visit at least one beach with your dog to really experience this important part of the Chilean culture - the relaxed, gorgeous, beach culture that is! Head to the northern parts of the country for nice warm waters year round or the south for quieter beaches with icy waters. Try to plan your trip for a sunny day and check if there are parking fees before heading out the door (many beaches are free but some do charge anĀ entrance fee!).
Step
1
Packing
Pack your bags for the beach keeping you and your pup in mind. While you will need sunscreen to lay around on a Chilean beach, your dog may need an umbrella to provide some shade from the hot South American sun. Bring a towel for your dog to lay on and a towel to help them dry off as well. Your dog will also need some fresh water, so a portable water bowl is ideal.
Step
2
Set up
Pick a spot away from a lot of people so that your dog doesn't bother any of the local beachgoers. If you see any other dogs on the beach, try to sit near them so your dog can play with a friend! Get the umbrella out right away and set your dog's towel under it along with their water bowl. Show your dog their area and make them feel comfortable, preparing them for a fun day at the beach!
Step
3
Play
Let your dog swim in the water or toss a ball on the beach for them to chase. Frisbee is a perfect beach game or laying in a pool of cool ocean water is also a great way for your pup to enjoy the Chilean coastline. Relax in your beach chair as you stare at the crystal clear waters with the soft sand under your feet. Chile sure has some fantastic beaches!

Activity description
With some of the most spectacular hiking trails in the world, you have to get out there and walk some of Chile's most picturesque locations with your dog. From north to south, there are trails everywhere because there are mountains everywhere! From snowy mountain peaks in the south to the warmer, greener trails near northern Chile, there are trails perfect for any time of the year. Of course, a sunny day is always helpful for hiking no matter where you plan on walking - no dog (or human) wants to hike in the rain! Most trails are free while some charge small fees for entrance but the sites are well worth the cost of admission.
Step
1
Pick a trail
Plan your hiking trail in advance by considering your abilities and how well your dog can hike. With an entire country full of trails, you are sure to find one perfect for your dog. Look for a flatter, shorter trail if you are novice hikers or a steeper, longer trail for those who are experts. Consider the location of the trail in the country and your travel to get to the trail. Once you find the perfect fit, set out to hike!
Step
2
Pack
If you plan on going for a long walk with your pup through gorgeous Chile, think about all the things you will need along the way. Pack food for you and your dog so you can stop along the way at a nice spot to have a snack. Water is essential as is a map and possibly a phone as well. Bring your dog's leash and collar in case the park you visit requires your dog to be on a leash at all times.
Step
3
Hike
Set out on your journey with your dog and enjoy all that Chile has to offer. From the tops of the mountain trails, you will be able to see the coastline in the distance. From the lower paths, you will likely walk along winding rivers. No matter where you walk with your dog, be sure to snap pictures as you will want to remember your day of hiking with your best friend in Chile!
