Just because it is cold does not mean that your day with your pup is ruined! There is plenty to do in New York with your dog in the cold. Indoor activities as well as some outdoor activities (bundle up!) are abundant so do not fret, you will be certain to have a great day! Make sure to grab your coat and maybe even one for your pup too as you head out the door!
When thinking about dog parks, you may automatically think of places outside. However, there are actual indoor dog parks as well! Indoor dog parks are the perfect place to go when it is cold outside in New York. Not only can your dog run around freely but there is sure to be other pups there as well for your dog to play with! New smells, new friends and a chance to get out of the house but also stay out of the cold - sign me and my pup up for this activity, as it sounds like the perfect solution to a chilly day!
Did you know that there are bakeries and coffee shops just for dogs? Well now you do! New York is home to several dog bakeries which not only cater to dogs by making dog friendly treats, but they also let dogs inside to play, relax or pick out their favorite cookie from the display case! A dog bakery is a great place to go and hang out when it's cold. Maybe you can get a doggy mocha latte while you are there to warm you up even more! Â Bring a book and make a day of the visit with your dog just as you would any coffee shop in New York.Â
Who says that swimming has to be for summer months only? Not us! And many indoor pools in New York agree - swimming should be for anytime and also for anyone - including your dog! There are a surprising number of pools in New York that allow dogs to swim. Some pools are exclusively for dogs while others let dogs and their owners swim. Whichever option you prefer, you will find a pool in New York to fit your needs! So don't pack up that bathing suit just because it is winter, there is an indoor doggy pool just waiting for you and your pup in New York.Â
Just because it is cold doesn't mean you are stuck inside. Bundle up and then head out into New York for a nice winter walk. A brisk walk is fun for pup and parent alike!
While this activity isn't specific to New York, it can be nice to just stay home and not leave when the weather gets particularly cold. Your dog may also enjoy a day at home with you.
Since New York is cold about half of the year (thanks Northern states!), you will definitely need to find activities that you can do with your dog despite the frigid temperatures. Luckily, New York is full of things to do and you will never need to search for an activity for long! So pick an indoor adventure or brave the cold weather while wearing lots of layers. Don't worry, the cold won't last forever….we hope!
