Introduction

Ah, the rain. The boring, dull, non-interesting weather condition that makes all doggos stay inside all day and be bored out of their brains. Us humans can find things to do when it rains. We can read, we can play video games, we can watch movies, but dogs are not as lucky as we are. They need something physical, something they can touch and bite to have fun, and that can be a challenge when it rains. However, Vermont is a place with many fun options even when it rains, so don’t worry, you will surely find something to do until the sun comes back out.

When it rains, it pours, right? Well, it does, but it does not have to pour on the potential fun time you can have with your doggo. If you are stuck inside with nothing to do, you can take a quick drive to the Vermont Dog Club and have some fun with your puppo in the facility that offers training classes, playgroups, social events, seminars, and workshops, all of which you can attend with your beloved pet. The club is equipped with the trendy dog gym with treadmills and balance balls, so your dog can get some exercise; the living room, where you can lounge and be lazy for a while; the “spaw” where you can pamper your pup, as well as the fetch room, where you can safely throw the ball without fear that you will knock over expensive lamps and vases.

Step
1
Gym time
Every doggo needs their exercise, and so do us humans. Luckily, you can visit the dog gym and have your pup run on the treadmill to build that muscle and burn calories, and, while they are running, it is only fair for you to join in on a stationary bicycle. The two of you will shed those extra holiday pounds in no time!
Step
2
The spaw
After your exercise session, both of you will need to clean up. You can wash and groom your doggo here and give them a pampering session they deserve. The Club provides all the supplies, the shampoos, brushes, and toothpaste, everything you need to clean up and smell nice.
Step
3
Lounge!
Now that you’re all clean and smell like a meadow, you can relax a bit in the lounge area. There are many DVDs, books, and interactive toys you can use to pass the time and inform yourself on the latest trends in doggo fashion. Your companion will be ready for a rest; enjoy the atmosphere before heading home to a peaceful evening.

If you are a beer lover, you surely know about the Magic Hat Brewery. It is located in South Burlington in Vermont and it is a famous brewery that distributes delicious drinks all over the US, and guess what, it is super dog-friendly. If you are bored on a rainy day and you really want to go out of the house, why not pay a visit to the brewery and see just how your favorite drink is made? Your dog can accompany you while you check out the facility and taste the delicious beer. Just don’t give any to your pup, you don’t want them to get tipsy! Seriously though, beer is definitely harmful to dogs!

Step
1
Take a tour
You can take a guided or a self-guided tour for free here! Just come during the working hours and walk around and explore. Make sure that your pup is on a leash so as not to run wild around the brewery. Not all visitors will be comfortable with canines - be sure to keep your companion right by your side. Enjoy the tour!
Step
2
Delicious eats
Grab a bite to eat after your tour. The facility offers sandwiches, artisanal cheese plates, and many other dishes you can share with your pup. Just be sure the food you share is safe for your hungry pup. Then, fill your bellies with delicious snacks. Of course, pair your food with some amazing Magic Hat beer, and just a bowl of water for the doggo!
Step
3
Relax with your pup
If you are over 21, which you have to be in order to visit the Magic Hat Brewery, you can taste all the beers they have on tap! They change their selection each week, so check what they offer or just ask the bartender to give you something they choose. Don’t go too crazy though, your dog cannot carry you home nor should they! But, sip responsibly and share a non-alcoholic drink with your puppo.

Who doesn’t love ice cream, right? It is one of the most delicious treats you can have and share with your doggo on a summer day when the rain just won’t go away. Even though it’s raining in Vermont, that does not mean that you cannot enjoy a nice treat once in a while, and having some ice cream will refresh you and make you and your doggo happier and more willing to have fun even when the weather is bad. After the whole day of games in your home, go to Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop and grab a bite, or should we say, lick or two!

Step
1
Get a cone
Grab a cone and choose a sugar-free ice cream that you can share with your dog. Ben & Jerry’s is known for the variety of flavors, so choose one that you can both enjoy and start lickin’! Well, while you’re there, you cannot just pick one, right? Try two, three or even ten flavors and see which one is your pup’s favorite. Consult with staff as to what flavors are safe for your pup and remember, moderation is key!
Step
2
Take a selfie
Now, there’s nothing cuter than taking a selfie with your dog, but what’s even cuter is taking a selfie with your dog with ice cream! You can take loads of pictures in the flavor graveyard as well, where you can see all the flavors that are not made anymore!

More Fun Ideas...

Toy Search

Hide your doggo's favorite toy in the pile of other toys and have them search for it. When they manage to track the toy down, include a lot of praise and give them a tasty treat!

Baking

Be a proper housewife and bake some delicious cookies for your doggo. Then, have a little taste test with them, and see which one is their favorite. They will surely love all of them!

Conclusion

As you can see, a rainy day does not have to equal a boring day. Yes, you cannot run freely in the fields, but there are plenty of things you can do to entertain yourself and your best friend. Vermont is a very dog-friendly state, so finding a venue and an activity you can do will not be too hard. Just get out of the house and start exploring!
