Prepare for unexpected vet bills
The Vizsla is a dog breed native to the country of Hungary. This breed was developed for the purpose of pointing and retrieving, working closely with a hunter, thus earning the moniker “Velcro dog”.  This quality of the Vizsla is still evident to this day; this breed has a knack for cuddling with their owners, being a shadow and just serving as an everyday companion. What’s even more impressive about the Vizsla is that it is the first and only dog breed (so far) to bring about a quintuple champion – in agility, field, conformation and obedience. A versatile pooch with impressive skills to boot, the Vizsla is a wonderful dog to have around.Â
The Vizsla is one of the most athletic and alert dog breeds in existence. A sudden movement can immediately catch this breed’s attention and get them up and running. This is why a game of flirt pole is a good match for the Vizsla. This game is basically “fishing”, but the pup version. The flirt pole game is like a do-it-yourself version of the canine sport known as lure coursing, where dogs are made to chase a mechanical lure across an open area. This game is quite simple but can do a lot to get your active Vizsla physically and mentally stimulated.Â
One look at the Vizsla and you might not expect this breed to be among the most impressive dog swimmers. Even though they do not have insulating undercoats similar to other water dogs (such as the Labrador Retrievers or Newfoundland), Vizslas do have webbed feet, which make them excellent in the water. Swimming is an activity that is fun and uses up a lot of energy, which is why it is such a brilliant choice for this energetic dog breed. Obviously, this activity is best done during the summertime, especially when the skies are clear and the sun is out.Â
The word “Vizsla” means “pointer” in the Hungarian language. The dog breed of the same name, which hails from Hungary, was largely used as a hunting companion, specifically for pointing purposes. At present, Vizslas are very seldom used for their original purpose. However, major canine organizations such as the American Kennel Club offer a variety of tests for pointing breeds. One of these is the hunting test. This non-competitive assessment that will evaluate a dog based on various characteristics, such as independence, speed and desire. This test is typically carried out by using a series of scent patterns, which the dogs must use to find the birds’ location. This test is good way to test your Visla’s natural pointing abilities.Â
The Vizsla is one of the top dog breeds when it comes to agility training due to their athleticism. You may enroll your dog in a club that conducts agility training courses or hire a trainer personally. You may also opt to create a DIY agility course to get your Vizsla up and running.Â
Vizslas have seemingly endless amounts of energy. In addition, they have inherent speed, which makes them the perfect running buddy. Take your dog to the park and go for a run. Just make sure that you keep your pooch on a leash because they can run really fast.Â
The Vizsla is a smart, lively and loving dog that puts the “V” in “versatile”; this breed makes for the perfect workout partner, cuddle buddy, guard dog and overall companion. Take care of your beloved pooch by taking on various activities that will satisfy your dog’s mental, physical and emotional needs.Â
