Wag! Walkers know Stonehenge

Located in the north-central area of Bentonville, Arkansas, Stonehenge is a well-established neighborhood with mature landscaping, surrounded by trees and undeveloped wilderness areas.  Commercial areas with services are accessible via a short drive north or south on main arteries. The weather in Bentonville is warm and outdoor activities can be enjoyed year round. Cool snaps in the winter will require some outdoor wear, such as jackets and warm footwear, especially if it snows, however, most days in winter are sunny and you can enjoy walks with your dog.

Summers can be quite hot. On especially hot, humid days, plan shorter walks with lots of water and shade breaks. Pet services are a short drive away, including Oakwood Pet Hospital just to the east of Stonehenge. A nearby off-leash dog park to the north and dog bakery to the south cater to pet-owning locals and provide excellent dog- friendly destinations with socialization opportunities for you and your dog. Great for meeting your dog-owning neighbors.

What is the terrain like in Stonehenge?

This exclusive neighborhood features no thoroughfares and traffic is local to the neighborhood. There are large homes exhibiting various architectural styles and well-developed landscaping including gardens and pools. There are, however, no sidewalks, and walks through the neighborhood with your four-legged companion will require walking on roadways and sharing them with vehicles, bicycles, and other pedestrians. Be sure to walk with your dog facing traffic, on the left side of the road, so you see oncoming traffic clearly and keep your dog leashed and out of the path of traffic. Fortunately, this quiet residential neighborhood does not have much traffic and locals are usually aware of pedestrians and children playing. Mature landscaping can obstruct views, however, so be aware. The area is mostly flat with some slightly inclined areas making for some variation in terrain. Nearby undeveloped areas give this area a natural feel, and rougher terrain in adjacent green areas requires better footwear for hiking.

How many greenways are there in Stonehenge?

As Stonehenge boasts mature landscaping and extensive yards, lawns, and gardens, a walk through Stonehenge presents plenty of green space to enjoy. There are surrounding undeveloped green areas with creeks, trees, and natural trails to enjoy bordering the community. The Bark Park is located to the northeast of Stonehenge at a substantial walking distance. Although those with energetic dogs may appreciate the extra distance, the park can also be quickly accessed by vehicle and features a parking lot for dog owners. This off-leash park is a fenced 1.3-acre area that even has an agility course! There are washrooms, a water fountain to stock up on water on hot summer days, and a dog station to dispose of waste. Bella Vista Park further to the north is accessible on Highway 71 and features a much larger recreation area, 132 acres of parkland, well-developed trails, and a lake and welcomes dogs year round.
