Wag! Walkers know Century City

Century City is located in the western area of Los Angeles, California. This neighborhood contains a large commercial and shopping district, the Westfield Century City outdoor shopping area, that features upscale retailers and eateries. There are more commercial buildings around the Fox Studios providing services to residents. Century City also features high rise hotels and apartment buildings, shops and restaurants, office towers, and residential areas. There are plenty of pet services in the area, and some restaurants will allow dogs on their outdoor patios with patrons in good weather. Los Angeles has more than its fair share of good weather, with the vast majority of days being hot and sunny year round. The climate is cooperative for enjoying this vibrant neighborhood, and you can explore Century City on foot, on most days, with little need to be concerned about bad weather. Summers can be exceptionally hot, so when walking in the area, plan shady stops, bring water, and protect paws from hot pavement if necessary.

What is the terrain like in Century City?

Century City contains quite the mix of development, from homes and businesses to sprawling country clubs.  Sandwiched between the Los Angeles Country Club and the Rancho Park and Hillcrest Country Clubs, Century City residents enjoy plenty of beautiful, green vistas adjacent to these facilities.

Century City's west side is predominately residential neighborhoods with single family homes and properties, and some multi-family properties and complexes. The area has some flat and some sloping terrain, and winding residential roads.  The north and south areas on the eastern side of Century City are predominantly commercial, with the Fox studios to the south and a large, two story, outdoor shopping area in the north.

Century City features high rises, creating a skyline separate from downtown Los Angeles, on the west end of the city.  High rise apartments, hotels and office towers are prevalent here, along with a variety of business, services, shops and restaurants. You can enjoy a walk through quiet residential neighborhoods in Century City or explore the busy commercial districts, where there is plenty of activity. Century City provides plenty of variety for tourists, people employed in the area, and residents, all enjoying the sights in this vibrant community.

How many greenways are there in Century City?

Century City, located in the western region of Los Angeles, is not far from the natural areas in the north and west of the city, including the Santa Monica Mountains and Pier, which are accessible by a short drive and can be enjoyed with your dog. Wilderness areas can feature some challenging terrain, so be prepared. Within the Century City community is Roxbury Park, a 3-acre park located in the eastern part of the community. This park is known for its lawn bowling and tennis, but also has a baseball diamond and basketball courts, amenities like picnic areas and washrooms, and winding trails to enjoy some greenery and shade with your dog. Great for hot summer days when shade is a requirement for enjoying play and a run with your pup! Other options to enjoy some shade on a hot day are walks through some of the quieter, heavily treed residential neighborhoods in the community, or along the border of the local country clubs where large mature trees line roads, properties and fence lines.
