Wag! Walkers know Venice
Located in western Los Angeles and bordering the Pacific Ocean, Venice is a beachy residential area with ocean views and countless attractions. A variety of eateries and shops dot the neighborhood as well as a few pet-friendly services and amenities. The VCA Animal Hospital sits on Lincoln Boulevard and just up the street is Bruno's Dog and Cat Boutique. Further up at the end of the neighborhood is Kriser's Natural Pet Food store. The Dogromat, located next to Venice High School, offers self-washing stations and other grooming services.

With the beach and plenty of pet shops to visit, Venice is a beautiful oceanside neighborhood to walk your dog. The city of Los Angeles stays warm all year round with average winter temperatures in the 60s and summer temperatures averaging in the mid-80s, so the weather is almost always ideal for a walk around the neighborhood. Just remember to stay hydrated in the California heat!
What is the terrain like in Venice?
Venice's oceanside location makes it a very flat area with minimal incline - perfect for a leisurely walk with your dog. There is a lot of vegetation and natural foliage around the neighborhood. The Venice Canal Historic District, a pedestrian-only community bordering the Marina del Rey neighborhood, is a popular walking spot because of its peaceful and pretty views of the waterways and greenery. A two-mile walk through the entire canal district takes about one hour and dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash.
Many of Venice's residential areas are for pedestrian traffic only, but the neighborhood's roads are still very congested, so be cautious when crossing the street in those areas. Kinney Boulevard is a bustling hub of shops and restaurants great for exploring and people-watching, but it can become crowded during tourist seasons. Despite the neighborhood's popularity, there are still many places perfect for a peaceful walk.
How many greenways are there in Venice?
Venice is known for its scenic greenery and popular beaches. Although Venice Beach does not allow dogs, you can still bring your furry friend on a leash to Venice Beach Boardwalk to enjoy the sun and ocean views. The boardwalk is one of the more crowded spots in Venice, so avoid it if your dog is nervous around many people. Westminster Dog Park, located three blocks from Venice Beach, is a spot where you can let your dog run off of his leash. Even though the ground is all mulch, there is a shaded area as well as some picnic tables in the enclosed area for you to enjoy.

Away from the beach and on the other side of the neighborhood is Penmar Park, a recreation area with courts and fields for sports. Marine Park sits adjacent to Penmar Park and features picnic tables under shady trees that serve as a spot to rest.
