Although Cortez Hill is a central urban neighborhood, it has great greenways to visit with your dog. The Little Italy Dog park is located on the northwest corner and has separate enclosed areas for small and large dogs with double gated entries. There is shade and seating for owners to supervise their dogs and the park is well maintained.
The Tweet Street Linear Park curves around the northeast side of Cortez Hill. This narrow park is about 30 feet wide and 1,800 feet in length, providing an urban oasis that was once part of Balboa Park. The greenway is named for its population of small birds and the park is lined with handmade birdhouses.
Just north of Cortez Hill is the vast urban greenway of Balboa Park. This park has acres of natural and developed recreational spaces with miles of trails. There are three dog parks in the greenway, providing plenty of options for dogs of all sizes and shapes!
