Good news for Rancho Bernardo canines: the Rancho Bernardo Dog Park is located centrally in the recreation space near the baseball fields and tennis center! This great dog park occupies 2.66 acres and has three enclosed pens for dogs of different sizes and abilities. Pens feature double entry gates to prevent escapees, drinking water supplies and bowls, and biodegradable waste bags. There are grassy areas, trees, and seating for dog owners to supervise their pups. Be aware that the dog park may be closed in rainy weather.
Rancho Bernardo is surrounded by natural areas, hills and canyons, and a lake with great hiking trails in and around them. The San Dieguito River Trail takes dog walkers and their pups around Lake Hodges with multiple trailheads in the community heading up into the hills with miles of trails to explore. Keep your dog leashed in these greenways which have rugged terrain, elevation changes, and wildlife.
