Outer Richmond, like the rest of San Francisco, experiences a mild climate and does not experience extreme temperatures. This means you will have plenty of perfect days without extreme heat or cold for you and your pup to explore Outer Richmond and its surrounding areas.
Outer Richmond also has some hilly terrain as is typical for many San Francisco neighborhoods. As you move inland or if you move to the north, you will experience steady inclines.
The boundaries of Outer Richmond include Clement Street, California Street, and El Camino Del Mar to the north, 19th Avenue to the east, Fulton Street and Golden Gate Park to the south, and the Great Highway, the Pacific Ocean, and 48th Avenue to the west. Point Lobos Avenue and Geary Boulevard are also major roadways and may cause safety concerns for pedestrians, dog-walkers, and their pups.
However, Outer Richmond is located immediately north of Golden Gate Park. There, you will find plenty of walking trails and attractions to explore as well as an off-leash area if your pup needs extra exercise. Outer Richmond is also immediately southwest of another large greenway that's composed of Balboa Natural Area, Sutro Heights Park, a golf course, and Lands End walking trails and lookout. These are both expansive greenways with plenty of different walking trails.
Finally, Outer Richmond also has direct access to the beach and the Pacific Ocean if you and your dog need another adventure!
